With Mailles, the choreographer, singer and author Dorothée Munyaneza created a dance and vocal performance for six female African or of African descent artists. Each of their voices and bodies tells a unique story of journey, commitment and strength. The artists on stage boldly and freely manifest an intimate and collective memory.

“For me, beauty lies in insubordination”.

Munyaneza weaves these stories together and creates a symphony of voices. In collaboration with artist and designer Stéphanie Coudert, costume and fabric provide a common thread on stage and interrogate femininity and freedom of the body.

About Dorothée MunyanezaMusician, author and choreographer, Dorothée Munyaneza develops an ardent work. On the international contemporary scene since the early 2000s in several musical and choreographic projects, she starts from the real to capture the memory and the body, the individual and the collective; to speak and to carry the voices of those who are silent; to question the genocide of the Tutsis, the violence against women, the racial inequalities. To hear the silences and see the scars of History.
