Like Mercury, a powerful new dance & music collaboration by Emma Houston & Bellatrix, examines dominant narratives of success.

Through the lens of queerness, a dynamic trio of movement artists from Houston Dance Collective & world champion beatboxer & musician Bellatrix share stories, dismantle internalised beliefs, & collectively re-imagine a present moment celebrating their identities & centring community. The work moves through stages of tenderness & vulnerability, to gripping & explosive moments of joy & visceral expression, connecting the audience to each individual’s journey in their flaws & brilliance, inviting them into their worlds that intersect, differ & uniquely collide.

Like Mercury is commissioned by DanceXchange and Punch Records for presentation at Birmingham International Dance Festival 2021 as part of Gallery37 North. Supported by Arts Council England & Trinity Community Arts.
