PLI brings together 22 conference chairs, obsessive rhythm and one devoted man. On a small platform, Viktor Černický dives resolutely into the effort for indefinite construction, reconstruction and deconstruction of the Universe.
The outcome is an intelligent and playful solo – a physical metaphor for endless human dynamics, patience and striving that turns even the most ordinary objects into incredible pieces of architecture. PLI is an unpredictable and humorous performance where robustness is replaced with spatial modesty and material minimalism.
My interest in ply as an intricate figure grew along with reading Gilles Deleuze’s stirring philosophical text PLY on the iconic Baroque philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz. Hi thinking is very close to a magical performance with only one difference: there are no magic tricks. Extremely rich in details, greatly elaborate in style, robustly shaped and yet very simple, modest and absolutely true, Leibniz truly was a child of the Baroque era.
The idea leading me to create a performance that bends our imagination and takes our breaths without being narrow in form and expression thus a playful blend of fiction and non-fiction and the need to reflect the reality that, to a single human being, often becomes transcending.
